🛡️ Protected Consumer Status Criteria
According to NEPRA single national tariff guidelines, residential electricity consumers are divided into two primary categories:
Consumers whose monthly electricity usage did NOT exceed 200 units in any single month for the past 6 consecutive months. Protected status provides subsidized unit rates and zero fixed monthly charges.
Consumers who consumed more than 200 units in even a single month during the last 6 months. Non-protected rates apply progressively across higher unit tiers.

Surcharges & Government Taxes Explained
Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA)
Variable monthly rate determined by NEPRA to adjust for thermal fuel cost fluctuations (coal, gas, furnace oil).
Financing Cost (FC) Surcharge
Fixed surcharge of Rs. 0.43 per unit applied to debt servicing in the power sector.
Electricity Duty (ED)
Provincial duty charged at 1.5% of total cost of electricity (approx. 0.20 Rs/unit).
General Sales Tax (GST)
Standard 18% GST assessed on energy charges, FPA, FC Surcharge, and ED.
