MEPCO Peak Hours Timing Schedule (Summer vs. Winter)
For consumers with 3-phase digital meters or sanctioned load of 5 kW and above, MEPCO enforces a Time-of-Use (TOU) metering system. During peak demand hours, electricity units (kWh) are billed at a significantly higher per-unit rate compared to off-peak hours.
Summer Peak Hours
Apr – Sep7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Duration: 4 Hours daily. High power appliances (air conditioners, motors) during these 4 hours increase peak unit billing.
Winter Peak Hours
Oct – Mar6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Duration: 4 Hours daily. Shifts earlier in the evening due to shorter winter daylight hours.
🛡️ Protected vs. Non-Protected Status Criteria
According to NEPRA single national tariff guidelines, domestic electricity connections are divided into two main categories based on trailing consumption history:
Monthly consumption did NOT exceed 200 units in any single month for 6 consecutive months. Qualifies for subsidized lifeline unit rates.
Consumed >200 units in even a single month during the trailing 6 months. Non-protected progressive slab tariffs apply.
