Energy Charges Slab Breakdown
How MEPCO Bill Calculations Work
Your total monthly MEPCO electricity bill is composed of two primary sections: Cost of Electricity (based on NEPRA unit slab rates) and Government Taxes & Surcharges.
1. Step-Up Tariff Slabs
Energy charges are calculated progressively across slab bands. Higher unit consumption triggers higher per-unit rates across upper tiers.
2. Protected vs Non-Protected
Consumers who use 200 units or less per month consistently for 6 consecutive months are placed in the Protected category with subsidized rates.
3. Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA)
A monthly variable surcharge approved by NEPRA reflecting variations in power generation fuel costs.
4. Taxes (GST & Duty)
18% General Sales Tax (GST) is applied on energy charges, FPA, FC Surcharge, and Provincial Electricity Duty (0.20 Rs/unit).
