1. How Protected Status is Calculated (The 6-Month Trailing Rule)
In Pakistan, NEPRA categorizes domestic electricity consumers into two major brackets: Protected and Non-Protected.
The Golden Rule for Protected Status
To be classified as a Protected Consumer, your electricity connection must consume 200 units (kWh) or fewer EVERY SINGLE MONTH for 6 consecutive months (trailing 6 billing cycles).
If your consumption exceeds 200 units in even a single month (e.g. 201 units in July), your connection is automatically reclassified as Non-Protected for the next 6 months!
